Starting and Staying Healthy as a Ram
Maintaining a Healthy Diet - Off Campus
Moving to CSU and into the dorms is an amazing experience, but your first year living off of campus will sneak up on you fast. Knowing how to eat when you live on your own is a key factor to a healthy lifestyle as a college student.

Grocery Shopping
Grocery shopping can be so much fun but also be stressful. Living outside of the dorms and being independent can cause financial stress. If you have financial support or a job it makes it much easier to create a budget. Once you've chosen an apartment to live in, create a budget. Put all your monthly expenses together in a document and stick with it. Grocery shopping with a budget will make it much easier to get the food you need and create less waste.
Another important aspect of grocery shopping is how to buy healthier options. When you go into the store, create a main budget for your trip as well as budget for prepackaged or unhealthy foods. Shop as much as you can outside of the aisles (produce, meats, dairy, etc.)
Cooking at Home
Cooking at home and making your own meals is cost efficient, much more healthier than eating out constantly, and can be incredibly fun.
Meal planning is a great way to maintain a healthy diet and stick with a budget for food. Try your best to limit eating out or eating fast food. It is perfectly acceptable to treat yourself sometimes, but creating a routine for your meals will help you to save money and keep up a healthy diet.
There are lots of blogs, websites, and resources online to find new recipes. Your family might be able to help, or you could experiment with cooking and make your own recipes! Doing your own research on recipes and ways to cook can introduce you to plenty of new things and new ways to eat healthy.

Grocery Lists
Grocery lists are a great way to remain conscious of the food you buy and how you will use it. Even if you aren't planning on meal prepping, you should know what you're buying for the week and how you will use it. Use this rubric or any of the other various rubrics you can find online to limit spending and consumptions on unhealthy foods.
