Exercise

The CSU recreation center is a state of the art facility featuring live feeds of the workout rooms and head counts, group classes (virtual and in person), personal training, an aquatic center, an indoor rock climbing wall, and plenty of machines for cardio and weight lifting.

Breaking Down Barriers
Intramural Sports

There is a large variety of facilities and services that are offered to students. The Rec center is very close to the dorms and makes transitioning into an active lifestyle easy. There are group classes offered as well as a large variety of exercise machines to start you off, even if you're uncomfortable in a gym.

Group classes at the Rec include activities such as Zumba, yoga, cycling, strength exercises, and HIIT classes. There is a group class for every level of experience and desired intensity.

To encourage safety and distancing regarding COVID-19, the Rec requires reservations. This might seem like a pain, but having a set workout schedule can encourage consistency!

A large barrier for most people that are new to exercise is feeling self conscious around others. The Rec offers live cameras to check out how many people are in the gym at a certain time. Another large barrier to exercise is the fear of the unknown. Not knowing where to start a workout regimen or how to achieve goals can stop people from exercising. The Rec also offers personal training. No matter what goals or experience you have, it's within your reach to have a guide!

Not only are group classes offered in the Rec, but they are broadcast online. If you're more comfortable in your own home or room, you can stream a large variety of workouts to do at home, outdoors, or wherever you'd like.

Intramural sports are a great way to get outside, find a fun way to exercise, and meet people with common interests. CSU offers dozens of intramural sports, anywhere from golf, to bowling, to archery. An IM membership is only $10 a semester (very affordable) and offers countless memorable experiences.

The Rec center and the IM league also make sure to create an inclusive environment. The IM league offers mens, womens, co-ed, and open registration for all sports, and offers disability accommodation.

IMLeagues is a separate entity that works with CSU to create IM opportunities. The IMleagues website is a great place to register for any sport you can think of, and allows you to stay updated on any fun upcoming IM competitions!
