Drugs and Alcohol

College students have easy access to drugs and alcohol, but that doesn't mean you have to participate. Be conscious of your choices.

Safe Consumption

Did you know that a shot of hard liquor has the same amount of alcohol as a glass of wine or a beer? Did you know that it isn't physically possible to speed up the sobering process? Did you know that mixing certain drugs and alcohol has the potential to be extremely harmful or fatal?

It is vital to your health to be educated about safe consumption of drugs and alcohol. If you're going to participate, know what you're putting into your body and how it can affect you. Check out resources below to see how you can drink a safe way.

Cessation Resources

If you think you might have a problem, CSU offers plenty of resources to help quit and recover from alcohol abuse, tobacco/nicotine, marijuana, and other drugs.

The Drugs, Alcohol and You (DAY) program is a program curated by CSU to diagnose substance abuse problems and find solutions on an individual basis. The DAY program offers group workshops as well as individualized help. The hardest hurdle to pass is finding it within yourself to seek help. Never be ashamed to seek help.

Management

As a college student, you will probably experience stress, anxiety and need to get away from it. Some people rely on drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism. While it can be fun to let go every once in a while, drugs and alcohol should not be your primary coping mechanism.

If you do decide to participate in consumption of drugs and alcohol, it's important to remember the variables that can contribute. Did you eat? Did you drink water? It might seem like little things throughout the day but it can make a large difference.
