Student Life during a Pandemic

We've all heard about life in these "unprecedented times." COVID-19 changed the way we interact socially and the way we learn as college students. CSU is constantly updating their COVID-19 website to keep you up to date.

Testing

CSU offers testing at the MAC gym in the Rec center (saliva testing) for free to all students. As a freshman in the dorms, you are required to get tested frequently in order to provide safety to your peers. CSU also provides nasal swab testing, if needed. The CSU COVID-19 website offers all the information you could need to get tested.

Social Connection

It's very difficult to make new social connections when you are required to be isolated. Being in a new place and being a new student at a university offers plenty of choices for social interaction and meeting new people in a safe way. It's more than okay (and highly encouraged) to make friends in the residence halls!

Making new social connections can be just as important as maintaining social connections. Luckily, we live in a generation of technology. Text and call your loved ones as much as you're comfortable with, and check out resources with accurate information for social connections during COVID-19.

Stress Management

Being a college student is stressful, pandemic or not. There are multiple ways to cope with the stress of life as a student and lots of resources to help!

Self care, finding ways to focus on the task at hand, social support and combining coping mechanisms, and limiting media consumption can all be helpful.

In my opinion, the best way to manage stress and keep up with your studies is to set up and maintain a routine. Being able to feel like life is relatively normal will motivate you to do better for yourself.

Everyone is different and everyone finds their own ways to cope with the world around them. Believe in yourself and your own success!
